Vice Magazine raised the bar considerably for independent journalism, with their on the ground, tell it like it is, style approach to documentary filmmaking. Their lates from Ben Anderson on Afghanistan follows the same – now available on YouTube in a full documentary
Anderson gives us a picture of an incompetent, uneducated, poorly trained Afghan army that is too disorganized, stoned, or divided amongst itself to have any chance of maintaining order after the US military withdrawal in 2014. Often times the media and politicians talk about the horrors of war and the ideological battlegrounds, but it appears that most of the people of Afghanistan would prefer to not take a side at all, so long as they can go on with their daily lives.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could simply all trust our governments to be run by decent people with good values? Check out the original article here
